Project BEEHIVE | Hand Brace

Updated: May 20, 2018

PROJECT BEEHIVE was initiated through the opportunity to improve the medical technologies industry. With a particular focus on arthritis of the hand, a new design for the modern hand brace was created, providing support in all major and minor areas of the hand.

The BEEHIVE hand brace provides proportionate support to the bones of the carpals, metacarpals and phalanges. Its design minimises physical material, allowing for a lightweight and breathable glove that comfortably encapsulates the wearer's hand.

Using advanced software, the BEEHIVE hand brace was designed with the intention to be customisable to any hand. By scanning the hand of an individual, I am able to upload the user's geometrics into a software and fit the brace to the exact dimensions of the hand.

Project BEEHIVE components a larger initiative to change the face of design in the medical technologies industry to employ a user-centred perspective. The BEEHIVE hand brace marks an advancement in this industry by producing a design that prioritises the user as the informative of the design.
